If you are free to join us, please do so but also help spread the word among family, friends, co-workers and other organizations or faith communities you are active with. We are encouraging people to sign up so we can track how many folks are participating and also to send out updates about details of the event. Sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/JoinUsOnJuly4 Show up, speak out in your own unique way for the support of local immigrants and the progress of human rights. You can also join us in raising your voice and showing support in other ways: We had a great sign-making party on Saturday, July 1st. Past Event: Warehoused / World Refugee Day
June 20, 2017, 7:00 pm @ The Art Theater
An estimated 12 million people live in refugee camps worldwide and only 0.1% are resettled, repatriated, or integrated into normal society each year. Join us on #WorldRefugeeDay to learn about current advocacy and support programs within the Champaign-Urbana community, followed by the global premiere of Warehoused. This feature-length documentary explores the plight of long-term refugees through a glimpse into the lives of those living in Dadaab, Kenya, one of the world’s largest refugee camps. Tickets are $10 and are available online and at the door. All funds raised go to directly support our local programs. Warehoused does not contain any strong language, violence, or disturbing images, but it does tell the stories of people who have lived through difficult and tragic situations. Parents of young children should use their own discretion. RSVP on Facebook
